Project BB-8 at 100 Miles: What I Like and What I’d Change

One hundred miles is not a long-term test, but it is enough time for the first impressions to stop being entirely theoretical. The Papio SS has been a genuinely fun little machine for short 10- to 15-mile rides.

What I like

The bike feels peppy for its size and rewards keeping it in the right gear. The Ride Sync app has also been a standout feature and is much more useful than I expected going in.

What I’m watching

The 1–2 shift can occasionally feel sticky, and hills make gear selection more important for a heavier rider. Neither has taken the fun out of the bike, but both are worth keeping an eye on as the mileage builds.

The cosmetic list

The random chrome pieces and the European-style plate holder are still on my list. Those details are exactly why Project BB-8 exists: small changes that make the bike feel more cohesive without trying to turn it into something it is not.
